Demystifying Meal Delivery

You decide you need help getting healthy meals on the table, and realize you actually have a LOT of options. Of course, a choice is always a good thing. On the flip side, how do you know which service is right for you?

Some of the primary meal services include Blue Apron, Hello Fresh, My Fit Foods, and our team at The Austin Artisan. Now, I’m not here to tell you that one is better than the other. We all have our place in the culinary world and serve individuals with varying wants and needs. But I’d like to help you understand a bit more about each model and how we stack up!

Let’s break it down…

Do you have an hour to cook?

While Blue Apron and Hello Fresh send you recipes and pre-portioned ingredients each week, you do have to spend about 20-45 minutes cooking the meal—and then you have to wash dishes.

At The Austin Artisan, we boast a reheat-and-eat philosophy. There is no sautéing, blending or chopping required. Simply turn on your oven and insert your meal. As it heats, you can get comfy, take a shower or pour yourself a glass of wine. In 5-15 minutes your meal is ready, and you haven’t dirtied a single pot or pan!

Are you following a specific diet?

Companies like My Fit Foods and Blue Apron do offer allergy-friendly meals. However, the menu plans are not customized for you and you alone. They are meant to serve people in quantity.

As part of our Personal Chef Service, we take pride in getting to know all about your dietary preferences, goals, and allergies. If you don’t like cilantro, you’ll never see it. If you have a dairy sensitivity, your food will always be safe. You never have to check labels or remind us to make your meals allergy-free. We’ve got you covered.

Pick up or delivery?

If you’d like a meal from My Fit Foods, you have to go to a nearby location and pick it up. They do not offer delivery unless you make a purchase of $500 or more, and if you don’t live near a brick-and-mortar shop you are not able to receive food from this service.

The Artisans cook your meals in our certified commercial kitchen and deliver your food right to your refrigerator. That’s about as convenient as it gets. You don’t have to stop by our kitchen after work or remember to place your order. Once you’ve filled out a Food Questionnaire and set up your delivery, you can leave the rest to us.
